A notable part of a christening gown for anyone to see is the colour that is used for the gown. The main colour that one of these gowns or robes will work with is a white colour. In many cases the white can be a straight white option but in other cases it may be an off-white type of shade. What matters the most though is that the colour is a perfect white.

Some items that can be featured on a christening robe or gown can be in different colours. These include embroidered items like roses or other types of flowers. The colours used for these embroidered items should be light and not very intense so that they do not stand too far out from the other items on the gown or robe. In addition to this white can work for some embroidered features but this is generally based on the buyer’s discretion.

Picture the scenario. You have been away for a week with work and want to get home, get into bed with a cup of tea and relax in front of the TV.

You snuggle into bed and get all comfy, pick up your beloved remote to find the television won’t switch on. Your efforts to angle it at the television in every possible way fail miserably as you realise the batteries have been robbed.
On any day this scenario is annoying but at a moment where you are at your comfiest and you have to move to find where they are is actually soul destroying.

And what makes it worse is that you already know there will be NO spare ones lying around and if you come across one in the ‘Free for all’ drawer and your heart skips a beat, it will instantly regain its normal pace as people only ever store old worn out batteries. Why the hell do they not go to a battery recycling firm!? recycling batteries would make everything so much easier.

Well we feel your pain and we know the situation is tough so we thought we would share some stories from around the web of people who have suffered this exact problem.

When the MP3/iPod Player Runs Out
Okay so it is a family day out and you have been dragged along by your family because apparently you don’t spend enough time with them. Great!

So the journey is 5 hours long and you have to sit next to your sister who talks with a really high pitch voice, your mother who just likes to talk for no reason and your dad who whistles really loudly to absolutely no tune.
The saviour: Your iPod or MP3 player to drown out the unwanted sound to tune into some good music for the whole journey.

The Disaster: You forgot to charge up the battery before you left or the batteries you thought would last forever have unfortunately run out. Nightmare!

When the laptop charger runs out
So you have been in the library all day writing an assignment due in the next day. You have got a decent amount done and feel you have been productive so you head home with your laptop to grab a bite to eat and finish the rest off at home.

Typing away on your laptop after about an hour you notice the battery sign flashing.
The saviour: The trusted laptop charger in your laptop carry case to let you carry on typing your essay.
The disaster: Leaving your battery in the library which closed an hour ago and you can’t finish your essay as your battery has literally five mins left. Oh the joys of technology!

When the mobile phone battery runs out
So you are on your way home from a friend’s birthday bash and feeling pretty hungover. You smell and look pretty gross and the thought of getting the train back home is makes you feel a little bit ill. Reluctantly you get on the train and after five mins it has stopped on the track. No movement. You are slightly glad there is no jolting anymore as it was playing havoc with your stomach but you really just want to get home.

The train driver announces that the train will be terminating at the next stop and the next one will be available in 2 hours. You know that you cannot possibly face another two hours without your bed so what do you do?
The saviour: You call your mum and dad on your mobile phone to get them to pick you up.

The disaster: As soon as your mum picks up, the battery falls to its death and there is no way of switching it back on. So not only can you not get hold of your mum but she is now panicking that she can’t get hold of you and doesn’t know where you are. And to make matters worse you don’t know her mobile phone number off by heart (as that is what mobile address books are for) so you really are stranded and secretly wish you lived in times when people carried paper address and TELEPHONE books.

Organic Gardening

Organic gardening is the exact same as regular gardening except that no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are used. This can make certain aspects difficult, such as controlling disease, insects, and weeds. Organic gardening also requires more attention to the soil and the many needs of plants.

Organic gardening starts with the soil. Gardeners must add organic matter to the soil regularly in order to keep the soil productive. In fact, compost is essential to the healthiness and well being of plants grown organically. Compost can be made from leaves, dead flowers, vegetable scraps, fruit rinds, grass clippings, manure, and many other things. The ideal soil has a dark color, sweet smell, and is full of earthworms. Some soil may need more natural additives than regular compost can give, such as bonemeal, rock phosphates, or greensand. A simple soil test will tell you the pH balance and which nutrients you will need to use.

One thing that makes even gardeners that are very serious about organic gardening reach for pesticides is insects on their plants. The best way to defend plants against insects is to take preventative measures. One thing that can be done is to make sure plants are healthy and not too wet or dry because insects usually attack unhealthy plants and if healthy, they can often outgrow minor insect damage. A variety of plant types is a good idea to keep pests of a particular plant type from taking out the entire garden.

Perhaps the best way to defend against insects is to make your garden enticing to insect predators, such as ladybugs, birds, frogs, and lizards. You can do this by keeping a water source nearby or by growing plants that attract insects who feed on nectar. Other ideas are sticky traps, barriers, and plant collars. There are some household items that prevent against insects too, like insecticidal soaps, garlic, and hot pepper.

To avoid plant disease in organic gardening, choose disease resistant plants and plant them in their prime conditions. Many diseases will spread because of constant moisture and bad air circulation, so the site of your garden and the way it is watered can help ensure against diseases.

Weeds can be an annoying and frustrating part of organic gardening. Organic mulch can act as a weed barrier, but for even better protection put a layer of newspaper, construction paper, or cardboard under the mulch. Corn meal gluten will slow the growth of weeds if spread early in the season before planting, as does solarization. There’s also the old-fashioned art of hoeing and hand pulling that always works. Your best bet in weed prevention is persistence. Mulch well and pull and hoe what you can; after a few seasons you can beat the weeds for good.

Organic gardening is an excellent way to assure that your plants will be free and clear of all pesticides and, if taken care of properly, will be as healthy as possible. Organic gardening may take a little more time and care than regular gardening, but after gardeners get the hang of it and figure out all the quirks of their garden, it is definitely worth the extra time.
